Public Transport Update – 21st December 2016

Information has been sent out to 16 local bus and transport operators, some of whom are based in Blackburn with Darwen, and some from adjoining boroughs. We are split between operators who do commercial work (not many within BwD Borough Council) and those who do primarily contract work on behalf of ourselves and Lancashire County Council (LCC).

Further information has been requested by a small number of operators in terms of the routes vacated by Darwen Coach Services last Thursday following the information packs sent out last Friday – in relation to data on passenger numbers and types, as well as information on popular boarding and alighting points.

This information is now in the process of being considered by the operators who have requested it – this may take time to work its way through, and we’ll do our best to expedite things in terms of short notice registrations.

The Transport Team have had numerous calls on this – and one of the questions has been how do residents find out when a service has been put back on? We’ll be doing PR once something concrete has been agreed via Press Releases, Council website information and Shuttle Pages.

Regards, Mike.
